Every evening after I put the kids to bed, the exhaustion from a long day sets in and my body wants nothing more than to curl on the couch and fall asleep. While I would love to give into this feeling most nights, I know how important it is to carve time out of the day, every day, for self-care and it’s usually after their bedtime.
Making time for self-care is very important to staying balanced, emotionally available for my kids and I love how calm and relaxed I am when I go to bed. Self-care is what helps me start again the next day in a good place and keeps me patient and present with my children.
At 8pm, the last thing I want to do is leave the house, which is why practicing self-care is the easiest when it’s in the sanctuary of my own home. Here’s how I make my home feel like a spa and the essentials to keep on hand.

Diffuser & Essential Oils
I love my diffuser so much, I have two downstairs and another two in rooms upstairs. All you do is fill the diffuser with water, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil and the light mist permeates the air in your house leaving your home with a wonderful smell!
I use different therapeutic recents for different reasons such as lavender for it’s calming properties, thieves for it’s immunity during cold & flu season, frankincense and stress-away to help me calm down and feel less anxious. This DoTerra spa set is a good starter set to begin with.
A weekly detox bath is one of my favorite ways to relax, rid my body of toxin build up and calm my body and mind before bedtime. All you need are epsom salts, essential oils and a bath full of warm water. Never underestimate the power of soft, white light and powerful soothing scents from candles. They truly can transform a room with it’s calming light and smell.
Plush Bath Towels
When I get out of a detox bath or the shower, I don’t want to grab a thin, small bath towel. I want to wrap myself in something extra large and plush. These bath towels are super (super) soft and absorbent without any shedding or poor quality.
Himalayan Salt Lamp
After a particularly challenging day, or stressful evening, I’ll take some positive vibes for my mind and home! It’s said a Himalayan salt lamp can change the charge of the surrounding air by producing ions that have health benefits and negative energy into positive energy.
Made of natural materials, all you have to do is plug in your himalayan salt lamp while you read, listen to music, take a bath or meditate.

Create a Room Misting & Pillow Spray with Essential Oils
The power of scent is one of the most powerful ways to change your entire being. Scent can energize, calm, restore and rejuvenate you. You can create your own misting sprays for whatever your needs are by filling a small spray bottle with water and 3-4 drops of your favorite essential oil. For pillow spray, use Lavender or Stress-Away essential oil and spray your pillow for a peaceful snooze.
