Santa Claus' real mailing address and how to send a letter to Santa, receive a letter from Santa and have your letter postmarked from the North Pole.

Does Santa Claus Have a Real Mailing Address?

My 7-year-old twins want to mail their wish lists to Santa this year.

They wrote very detailed Letters to Santa about their year, and included very specific wish lists for what they’re hoping to receive. (Unfortunately my daughter will not being getting an RV this year, but hey, you only live once and gotta ask for a few big ticket items, right?)

We got a jump on it this year because sending mail to the North Pole will likely take a while, and because I wasn’t exactly sure if there was a real mailing address to send their letters, or what needed to transpire to get a response from Santa or his elves in time for Christmas.

I had to double check that Santa had an actual mailing address…

And guess what? Yes, he does!

There is a real address to send Letters to Santa and get a return Letter from Santa (but it does involve some legwork on the parent’s end if you want to pull this off.) If you get a head start on things and can get your letter in the mail before December 7th, you have a good chance of your child receiving a letter from santa postmarked from the North Pole in time for Christmas!

Santa Claus’ Actual Mailing Address

The US Postal Service has a fun program called Greetings from the North Pole

You place your child’s letter to santa in an envelope and address it to “Santa Claus, North Pole.”

As long as the envelope doesn’t have a valid Alaska mailing address (like with a real zip code included), it will stay in town and be accepted by the local postmaster.

Then… if you want to take it one step further and get a response from Santa and the North Pole, here’s what you have to do. 👇👇👇

How to Get a Letter Postmarked from the North Pole in the United States:

If you want a handwritten letter from Santa and the letter to be postmarked from the North Pole, then you have a take a few extra steps.

This is where you have to do a little work to get a response back from Santa, and it involves a little creative letter writing skills from Mom, Dad or another person in your home.

Here’s what the USPS says to do if you want to mail your letter, and get a response from Santa:

  1. Have the child write a letter to Santa and place it in an envelope addressed to: Santa Claus, 123 Elf Road, North Pole, 8888.
  2. Write a personalized response to the child’s letter and sign it “From Santa.”
  3. Insert both letters into an envelope, and address it to the child.
  4. Add the return address: SANTA, NORTH POLE, to the envelope.
  5. Ensure a First-Class Mail stamp is affixed to the envelope.
  6. Place the complete envelope into a larger envelope, with appropriate postage, and address it to:

NORTH POLE POSTMARK
POSTMASTER
4141 POSTMARK DR
ANCHORAGE AK 99530-9998

IMPORTANT: The USPS recommends sending letters by December 7th so they can be received in Anchorage, Alaska Postmaster no later than December 14th. Then Santa’s helpers in Alaska will take care of the rest.

This is explained in detail on the US Postal Service’s page about Letters from Santa.

Mailing Address & Instructions if You live in Canada:

Here’s the mailing address for Father Christmas if you live in Canada. The Canada post recommends you send your letters no later than December 10th to receive a response from Santa.
