“You’ve Been Booed” Bag Printable Signs – Get in the Festive Spirit

If you already Boo your neighbors or are looking for a new tradition to incorporate during the holidays, this is a fun and festive one that adds to the excitement this time of the year.

If you’re not sure what it means to even Boo someone, read on and I’ll tell you. It’s such a fun tradition children will love to partake in year-after-year and spread a little Halloween cheer throughout your whole neighborhood with this printable set.

What Does it Mean to Boo Someone or Be Booed?

A few years ago we moved into a new neighborhood and one October day the doorbell rang. When I opened the door, a pumpkin basket appeared on my family’s doorstep. Inside were some Halloween treats for the kids, a few sticky hands, and other themed treats along with a sign saying “You’ve Been Booed!”

We had been Booed!

This was our first experience learning about this fun, festive tradition! Booing our neighbors has become a well-loved and fun Halloween tradition amongst the kids in our area.

I created our own ‘You’ve Been Booed” printable signs to help others kick off the festivities in their own neighborhoods.

Leaving bags with Halloween goodies and treats and secretly leaving them on neighbor’s doorsteps is a great way to spread kindness and the Halloween spirit in your community.

How Do You Boo Someone?

Booing your friends is simple and fun – here’s how to do it!

If you are creating the first boo bag in your neighborhood:

  1. Create a boo basket at home filled with the printable “You’ve Been Booed” and “We’ve Been Booed” signs and fill it with themed goodies and treats to share. (The You’ve Been Booed sign will include directions for the neighbor that has been booed with instructions for how to pay it forward.)
  2. Under the cover of darkness, or just try to be an anonymous as possible, deliver the boo basket with the signs included, to another house in the neighborhood. Place the basket of treats on the front porch, ring the doorbell and run! (in the most respectful and appropriate way you’re trying not to be seen.)

If you have been booed:

  1. If you have received a boo basket on your doorstep, there should be a set of “You’ve Been Booed” and “We’ve Been Booed” signs. Place the “We’ve Been Booed” sign on your front door or window letting other neighbors know you’ve already received a basket. (The You’ve Been Booed sign will include directions for the neighbor that has been booed with instructions for how to pay it forward.)
  2. Within two (2) days, make a copy of the printable “You’ve Been Booed” and “We’ve Been Booed” signs and make your own Halloween treat boo bag to share.
  3. Under the cover of darkness, or just try to be an anonymous as possible, deliver the boo basket with the signs included, to another house in the neighborhood. Place the basket of treats on the front porch, ring the doorbell and run! (in the most respectful and appropriate way you’re trying not to be seen.)

What Do You Put in a Boo Bag?

Boo baskets are traditionally an assortment of Halloween-themed candy, sweet treats, toys, goodies and party favors that are inexpensive and fun. The $1 bins at Target and craft stores will do the trick!

Boo baskets can be as simple or as elaborate as you make it!
