Share in the Magic of Christmas: A Modern Way to Incorporate Santa

I’m happy to work with our sponsor, Portable North Pole (PNP) and share with you an easy way to boost the magic in your home this holiday season.

I overheard a conversation recently of a Mom who made the decision to skip the Santa Claus tradition. I agree it’s a parent’s choice how they raise their own children and what traditions they have, but… we aren’t that family.

I’m the Mom in snowman pajamas listening to Christmas tunes the day after Thanksgiving and whipping up green pancakes for breakfast.

When my daughter was four, she brought home a Letter to Santa from preschool. In her kiddie scrawl she wrote “I love you Santa.”

You better believe I’m diving head first into a season of joy and if that includes a plump old man in a red suit, sign me up. I refuse to lock away the joy he brings into our home around the holidays. The magic is real, even if he’s imaginary.

Nothing stacks up to Santa Claus magic even against a pile of presents or watching 27 Christmas movies. The real magic he ignites is in your child’s imagination and who can deny that?

Believing in Santa means believing in something you can’t see or touch, but this isn’t anything new. We ask our children to trust and believe in themselves. In friends, family, and in their own abilities each day. Having faith in something powerful yet unseen is something we all do. It’s OK if this starts with a mythical man who goes by the name of Santa Claus.

THE EXCITEMENT OF GETTING TO SEE SANTA

Each year I take the kids to get their picture taken with Santa. There’s always one who turns into a stage-five clinger or they melt to the floor like a puddle.

This year though, I did something even better (and easier.) Santa brought his magic to our house and I thankfully, didn’t have to brave any mall crowds this year.

I created personalized video messages from Santa for each of my kids that I could share on my computer and an app on my phone.

All day long I was the cat who caught the canary trying not to spill the beans before I showed the videos to them.

At first, they acted confused why I would have a surprise from Santa. Of course, we all know Santa is still at the North Pole hard at work checking his list twice.

The magnetic energy in the entire house shifted. My cranky son shoveled down his salad with glee and the girls stopped arguing over the last piece of pizza.

It’s also nice to know The Portable North Pole Children’s Hospital Program helps to put smiles on the faces of children in need of extra cheer during the holiday season. PNP partners with leading hospitals around the world so whenever someone purchases a personalized call or video message from Santa, 5% of the sale is automatically donated to the participating children’s hospital closes to you.

Here is what the App looks like on your phone. It’s super easy to navigate, makes sharing a breeze and even has a reaction recorder so you can capture your child’s huge smile and excitement!

When you share PNP magic, you are also giving not only to your loved ones, but also to children spending Christmas away from their homes and at the hospital. Your gift of giving represents the true spirit of the holiday season!

Download this Letter to Santa and have your kid fill it out so you know exactly what is on their wish list and can include it in your videos and phone call from Santa!

When I tuck the kids into bed on December 24th, I will remember why Santa is a part of our holiday traditions. When they whisper about reindeer hooves on the roof and the jingle of sleigh bells, I’ll melt from their childlike wonder.

I will revel in the way it feels to believe in something magical and bigger than oneself, the same old familiar feeling will stir from somewhere deep inside me, from my own childhood.
