50 Screen-Free Summer Activities for Kids

Do any of these statements come out of the mouths of your babes during the Summer months?

  • I’m Bored
  • There’s Nothing to Do
  • This is Sooooo Boring!
  • I Don’t Like My Toys
  • I Have Nothing to Play With!

Summer is one of my favorite seasons of the year.

I really do enjoy the extra time I have with my kids, but often we spend the first few weeks of Summer zipping around to check out attractions, events, parks, and outdoor fun places in our city, which leaves me exhausted and a noticeable lull once we’ve done it all.

That’s when the sibling fighting begins.

That’s when the “I’m Bored” comments slip out.

That’s also when screen time begins to tick up, and two or three movies in a row is exactly how I don’t want my kids to spend their carefree days of Summer.

In fact, having done some serious research into just how bad too much screen time is for kids, I created screen time rules (there’s a free printable you can download) printed and have on our fridge already, so we don’t turn to screens as a first-resort to boredom.

The point is, I work hard to ensure the three months of our Summer are as screen-free as possible.

That’s why I put a list together of awesome screen-free ideas and can’t wait to share them with you!

There’s screen-free outdoor ideas, screen-free learning ideas, and screen-free arts and craft ideas so no matter if you’re looking to get outdoors in nature, are stuck inside because it’s too hot or the weather is temperamental, you have bunch of fun, creative and collaborative ideas to inspire everyone under your roof.

Print out this list of 50 screen-free activities for kids, put it where everyone can find it and feel inspired to do something new and fun when the timing calls for it.
